Und jetzt Bitte direkt in die Kamera! (2013)

A text by Mohammad Al Attar

Damascus 2012. Noura decides to document the experiences of inmates of the Assad regime with the camera. It should be their contribution to the revolt. But what does "document" mean in this situation? The interviews and personal narratives demand more of her than expected, and the camera blurs the line between reality and fiction. Noura is torn between idealism, curiosity, voyeurism, empathy and growing fear. Through the confrontation with the prisoners on the one hand and their middle-class, regime-loyal family on the other, a premonition of the brutal conflicts that are to come grows within her.
